Figures and images

Keep images, charts, maps, and diagrams with their descriptive details.

Create a figure or chart

Figures can be created from supported image files or pasted content; chart workflows can also use copied spreadsheet content. Keep source and description details with the visual.

In practice, create a figure and upload a supported image or paste an image from the clipboard. Next, for a chart copied from Excel, review the detected chart/data and chart type before saving. Then, enter a clear title, note, and source where appropriate. Finally, assign a project and verify the preview before saving.

Adjust and organize figures

Figure records include editorial details and presentation controls so an image or chart can be reused consistently.

In practice, adjust the available style, dimensions, width, height, indentation, and spacing. Next, check that labels, legends, and important image content remain legible and uncropped. Then, set Word editability when that option is available and useful for the figure. Finally, search and filter saved figures by project; switch between available list and grid views. Finally, edit metadata or use the available record actions to organize saved figures.

Images, charts, and Office content

Figures keeps visual assets together with their title, caption, note, and source. Raster uploads behave as images; some content copied from Office may also retain a reusable payload for supported workflows.

In practice, upload or paste the figure into its record and confirm the preview matches the expected file or chart. Next, write an identifiable title and record who created the image or where it came from; use a note for clarifications that do not belong in the title. Then, for Excel or Word charts, see the PandaRef Helper chapter: native Office format availability depends on what the source application copies. Finally, insert from the Figures tab in Word and review size, placement, numbering, caption, and legibility on the final page.
